ShotBlocker is simple, safe and an effective way to block the pain from those injections without the use of chemical sprays or anesthetic creams. Injections 

Bionix Medical Technologies has taken a giant step towards removing the pain and anxiety associated with injections with its introduction of ShotBlocker®, a unique,new medical device that works through a novel application of the gate control theory of pain management. This theory states that a gating mechanism exists in the spinal cord through which both pain and sensory signals travel to the brain. ShotBlocker stimulates the skin at the injection site with multiple blunt skin contact points on its underside.The sensation this produces closes the “gate” to block the flow of pain signals to the brain.The gate control theory of pain management has proven valuable in understanding the body's regulation of pain, and ShotBlocker is the first mechanical device to use this approach to reduce the pain associated with injections.

How to Use 

1. Select injection site and prep skin as usual.

2. Hold ShotBlocker so that the contact points touch patient's skin.

3. Press ShotBlocker FIRMLY onto skin at the injection site.

DO NOT MOVE OR REMOVE SHOTBLOCKER UNTIL INJECTION HAS BEEN GIVEN.

4. Immediately administer injection through the central opening of ShotBlocker in the usual manner. For SC injections, angle the needle as needed to give the injection.

IF MORE THAN 20 SECONDS ELAPSE BETWEEN PLACEMENT OF SHOTBLOCKER AND INJECTION, COMPLETELY REMOVE SHOTBLOCKER FROM SKIN AND REPEAT PROCESS BEGINNING WITH STEP 2 BEFORE GIVING INJECTION.

5. Withdraw needle and dispose of needle and syringe as usual.

6. Remove and discard ShotBlocker.
